The lawns are low growing thymes, Wooly, Creeping Red and Creeping White and Irish Moss, Sagina subulata. A short sedum lines the track in many places looking like western "sage". In early summer they are covered with bright yellow blossoms. Some tall plants are used for vertical interest. All must be kept from encroaching on the right-of-way or the head operations officer gets very irritated.
During the winter months we take our extra track and the trains and go to nursing homes, schools and shows. We run trains 12 months of the year. We are members of several Garden Railway Clubs and Tom is the currant president of the Wisconsin Garden Railway Society. By attending club meetings and conventions, we have learned many things about our hobby. Also we have made many new friends. Yes, we would build another layout but it would be different. Wider curves, flatter grades, no turnouts and be able to run more trains at one time.
